Memorial Day Weekend (picture heavy)

First I hope everyone had a safe and fun Memorial Day. Thanks to all those who have served our country and deserve an honor on this, and every, day!

Even though I had the weekend off from work I was still rather busy.

Saturday my buddy Traci (The TraceFace Philes) and her pal Casandra came down and we went on a polish shopping expedition. We hit 3 Five Belows, 2 JC Penneys. Ulta, 2 nail supply stores, Trade Secret, Mac, Lush, Sephora, Nordstrom and a CVS. I believe they also hit another Ulta and Nordstrom Rack on their way home lol. Grand Total for my day was 14 stores, 3 malls, and several shopping centers. That's a lot of hoofing. But it was all worth it. We had a blast. Joked, laughed, mocked...and also found a ton of polish! Including a few lemmings. So don't let me bore you with things you had to be there to find interesting. Let me just show you the pictures!

Traci and Casandra enjoying some Rita's about half way through our day.

By the end of the day our nails were the ultimate tester skittle mani ;-)

Back to my house. Traci's at the top, Cas' in the middle, mine at the bottom.
this includes the couple of things Traci and I swapped before hand.

There's all mine again...

Shatters!...until this day I had none and was very sad. JcP had all their OPIs bogo half...
The Silver was one Traci swapped me.
and of course Purple is Sally Hansen which I got at CVS

Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous, PotC Stranger Tides, Sparrow Me the Drama, and Steady as she Rose, Not Like the Movies (new version) and Simmer and Shimmer.
Sparrow me the Drama I actually had to get at Cedar on Sunday but it completed my Pirates collection =)

Hard Candy Fabuluxe (a Traci swap), Ulta- Pinata Yada (another Traci Swap) Little Black Dress, Underground, Green with Envy,  and Funky Finger- Baby Baby Baby, Sand & Stilettos, and Snakeskin

And of course some much needed extras...

Of course as soon as I got home my sister (and even my mom) started drooling and I could see the gears turning in their heads for what they wanted to use first...ugh. Even my dear 2 1/2 year old nephew Brody was getting handsy haha. So my mom asked for me to do something patriotic on her nails that very night. I thought for a second and came up with this:

Flags!

My mom's poor stubby nails. We put our hands through hell at work.
This is Sinful White (i forget the exact name) with China Glaze Dorothy Who? and OPI Red Shatter
I swiped the shatter sideways across the nail hoping for a horizontal "striping"

Then of course I had to play with my new polishes on me =)
This is Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous with Turquoise Shatter.

Sunday was also busy. Employee Appreciation Day at work so I could actually shop in my own store. Got a couple pairs of jeans and some jammies. I love 50% off sales in this respect. I also had to bake and decorate my sunflower cupcakes for our bbq at work. And my friend Carrie spent most of the day tagging along. Sunday was also when I made a point of going to Cedar to look for my last PotC color.

Today, oh boy, today. Hectic and crazy and definitely not a holiday I got to celebrate. We always have a 50% off sale on Memorial Day. And when you team up the words "Sale" and "Thrift Store", well, all hell breaks loose. Staff meeting at 8 am, doors opened at 9 and then near constant pandemonium until 5 pm. Needless to say a nap, dinner and a long hot shower helped round out my day.

So now I'm well past tired and still have another day of work before I get my "holiday". I'll have 2 whole days to spend mixing and matching with all my new goodies. =)

Hard Candy's Glossaholic Lip Gloss

Everyone always flips over flakey nail polish goodness like Nubar 2010, Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure, and several of the Nfu Ohs. But have you seen flakey lip gloss yet?!

Hard Candy has some awesome cosmetics available at Walmart for extremely reasonable prices. Their nail polishes are a fave of mine. So when I spotted this today for only $5 I just HAD to have it. This is their Glossaholic lip gloss in Fabulous.

On my Lips, there are more flakes then this shows

Test Spot on my hand

Close up on the tube, flakey goodness!

The bonus of this gloss is that it tastes yummy to boot! Most awesome glosses taste like vaseline or wax. But this one is kind of fruity. And after just one application my lips actually feel nice instead of dry the way lipstick sometime leaves them.

I can't wait till my Walmart restocks these because there are 5 other colors (although I think I already found the one that's perfect for me) as well as 2 "topcoats" that are actually "infused with mood altering elixirs to help you Chill Out or Rise & Shine". I also need to try out their baked eyeshadows and mascaras.

OPI Pirates of the Caribbean (part 1)

So I managed to squeeze out some money before the whole mess in my last entry to get myself a couple of the Pirates of the Caribbean collection from OPI. I've been drooling over these for the past few weeks in anticipation. Sadly, silver shatter was not mine to obtain but I did get my hands on (limited myself to) Mermaid Tears, Planks A Lot, and Skull & Glossbones. I plan on getting the rest soon.

So here they are. I couldn't choose just one to start with so I used all 3 colors. These are all 2 coats on Skull &Glossbones. My Left hand has a coat of Mermaid Tears and the Right hand is Planks A Lot.

OH and check this out...how about some Matte topcoat on the pinkies??

I think it looks pretty spiffy =)

My buddy Traci is planning on coming down Memorial Day weekend and we'll be going on a polish shopping expedition. Hopefully I'll be able to get the other 3 PotC colors and the shatters then. (A long with how many others I can hopefully afford.)

Dump entry

So I'm just going to complain for a moment.

How fair is this?  April was a 3 paycheck month (meaning extra money in the 3rd check since no medical or anything was taken out). So I had just a spare bit of cash sitting in my account for mother's day and the Pirates of the Caribbean collection from OPI and just as a cushion for groceries and other such things. Then my car decides to wants to take a crap. A locked brake caliper, there goes $300. UGH! Needless today I was a good kid and spent the last of my money on mom's present.

Completely broke here. Not even enough to put gas in my car or buy lunch for work until Friday. Forget going to celebrate my friend's birthday in NE Philly.

It's weeks like this that make me want to crawl into a hole and hide until the lottery gods decide I'm a winner.

Seeing Stars Franken

So as some of you know there's this great gal, Kae, who creates some pretty awesome frankenpolishes and shares her creations with the polish loving public.  Just this past Tuesday she put up a whole new sale (which you can find at The Hungry Asian blog, there are some left and she says she'll be making more soon). Her creations are so well loved that they sell out quickly. (And did I mention she puts part of the proceeds towards charity? The Red Cross Japan this time.) There were 5 that I was looking at but the sale started when I was at work. Luckily there were 2 of my picks available when I got home. Seeing Stars and Glitterverse. Let me just say, Kae shipped these out faster than anyone else I've seen. I ordered at 9pm Tuesday night and they were in my mailbox on Friday.

So without further ado, I present Seeing Stars!
"Dark royal blue superfine glitter and larger gold holographic square glitter in a clear base"
(This is 2 coats of The End from Hard Candy and 1 coat of Seeing Stars, with OtD topcoat)
(and these are clickable to enlarge this time! go me! haha)

As you can see my camera sucks for nail pictures (especially since it's my cell phone camera haha). In all honesty these pics to not do this glitter any justice at all. The holo glitter pieces just don't show up well through the lens. But they look amazing in person. I have a blast shining my phone's LED light on them and watching the colorful sparkles. Now I can't wait to test out Glitterverse =)
